This is one of several typefaces which I am releasing to the public domain. I also have a substantial collection of better typefaces that I am not releasing, but more about that later. You are free to distribute any of these faces in any way you want provided that this document is kept with them.
This document accompanies seven typefaces: Stalingrad, ToyBlockSampler, and Zirkle (in four varieties) and SpecimenBook. Here are some notes on each.
Stalingrad is intended to replace Stalingrad Demo. An updated version with better spacing, more kerning, and some differences in the letters is available as RedLetter on OrnateFonts#2. (RedLetter is NOT public domain.)
Zirkle was the first typeface I designed, and it looks like a first effort. I probably should trash it, but it has sentimental value to me and it can be used to illustrate a type family, something I have not seen yet among the public-domain and shareware offerings. The method of generating the font family used NFNTs, so you must use version 3.8 of the Font/DA Mover to install it. When properly installed, only one name appears on your font menus! You access the other three typefaces through the style menu. You get ZirkleHeavy by choosing Zirkle from the font menu, and then Bold from the style menu. (You may not see a difference between Zirkle and ZirkleHeavy on the screen, but you will when you print them.) I had some fun with the Italics style. And when you select Outline from the style menu, things really get interesting.
Zirkle, by the way, is a stroked typeface. A stroked typeface gives the printer a line to trace and tells it how wide the pen should be. In contrast, most typefaces are outline faces. They give the printer an outline to fill. The Outline style will not work properly with stroked typefaces, (which is why I put something else there.)
I developed ToyBlockSamplersome time ago to display samples of several ornate typefaces I designed. On the upper case letters are three faces which are part of the disk PosterFonts#1. On the lower case letters are two typefaces which are part of OrnateFonts#1. Scattered on various other keys are examples of a font of dingbats and borders and from ChooChooOne and ChooChooTwo, alphabets in which all letters are on train cars. All three are on OrnateFonts #1. (An updated version of ToyBlock, with different typefaces on the blocks, is part of Ornate #2. Also on Ornate #2 is Stamper, in which letters are on stamps.)
There are some special effects on the option number keys. To put a top and a left side on a block, type Option 2, option 1, and the letter. To put a top and a right side on a block, type option 3, letter, option 4. Also, the space bar will give you an empty block on the printer (which will not show on your screen), and if you really want an empty space, use the number key (the thing above the 3).
A specimen book in the printing industry is a book which contains type samples. Here is an electronic specimen book. SpecimenBook gives samples from 15 of the most recent typefaces that Ingrimayne Software has developed and is selling. They are as follows:

I can think of no possible use of this typeface, so if you obtained it thinking that it would serve some purpose, I apologize. It is meant only to illustrate our dollar-stretching type (for dollar-stretching types).

As of September 1989, Ingrimayne Software offers over 50 typefaces on five disks. Here is a brief summary of each.
Most of the typefaces on Ornate#1 have a 19th century, Victorian flavor. They are all display typefaces, and none has true lower-case letters. Samples of Salloon, Valenteena, ChooChooOne, ChooChooTwo, and Dingville can be found on ToyBlockSampler. Also included is Dinner, in which the letters are made of knives, forks, and spoons.
The strangest thing on Ornate #2 may be a font family of four typefaces in which letters are on book covers. It may be a good source of dropped caps. All the typefaces in this collection are unusual or bizarre, and meant for specialty uses.
PosterFonts #1 contains a variety of display fonts. Four are illustrated in SpecimenBook: Kyhota, KyhotaTwo, Lettergical, and Fezdaz. Three others are illustrated on the upper-case letters of ToyBlockSampler: Glitzy, Sansville, and Swanville.
PosterFonts#2 contains ten more display typefaces. Samples of Bigtop and BigBottom, which are on this disk, are illustrated in SpecimenBook.
Nine of the fonts from NewsletterFonts #1 are illustrated on the upper case letters of SpecimenBook.
